What app did you use to track your behavior?! I love the idea of creating a graph like this - very helpful visual.

Hey Brooke, glad you found it helpful. My phone settings (Huawei) show a helpful 'digital balance' feature - it tracks screen time among other things. I started noting the daily figure on calendar spreadsheet in Numbers (you can use Google sheets or Excel too).

When a month was nearly over, I searched and found a cool google sheet shared on https://blog.usejournal.com/track-and-analyze-your-life-habits-with-google-apps-2ffde39aa08b

It's really extensive (for tracking) and a little bit confusing for me - so I just use one column which shows up as a graph. Hope that helps.

Great article and technique. I used a similar technique to stop biting my finger nails. I kept track of the feelings that preceded the habit. I learned this from “Atomic Habits” by James Clear. Your technique is slightly different, but uses the same principle of creating awareness. It worked for me! Thank you.

Thanks Rick. That sounds very interesting, I'm glad it worked for you - did you track the frequency of the feelings that came up? I'd love to know more.

About Atomic Habits: I haven't read it but would like to. His blog is so packed with value; it's so articulate, I admire that.

I didn’t track frequency but just kept track of when I did it and what triggered it. Atomic Habits is an excellent read.
